  • To act as official spokesperson for the council in its relations with the students and the school administration.

  • To call meetings of the council and to prepare the agendas.

  • To chair the meetings of the council.

  • To supervise the tasks of the council members.

  • To take part in all special committees formed by the council or send a representative to such committees.

  • To represent the students on official occasions.

  • To advise and assist the President.

  • To coordinate the work of non-elected students involved in the organization of school activities: newspaper, environment, school dances, etc.

  • To replace the president when he or she cannot be present.

  • To write up the minutes of every council meeting.

  • To publish and distribute all the documents necessary for meetings.

  • To write and classify the correspondence of the council.

  • To provide full information about the council’s finances whenever the council wishes to see it.

  • identifying if and where processes are not working as they should and advising on changes to be made

•   Keeps informed of activities by local hams and identifies and publicizes those that are newsworthy or carry human interest appeal.

  • Generates advance publicity through the local media of scheduled activities of interest to the general public, including licensing classes, hamfests, club meetings, Field Day operations, etc.

  • Attempts to deal with and minimize any negative publicity about Amateur Radio and to correct any negative stories which are incorrectly ascribed to Amateur Radio operators.

1. Take an active role in advising the student organization.

2. Know the general purpose of the organization and be familiar with all provisions outlined in the organization’s constitution and bylaws.

3. Know the officers of the organization and the current members of the organization.

4. Meet with the organization’s president on a regular basis (at least once per month).

5. Remain informed of all activities sponsored and conducted by the student organization and attend events as feasible.

6. Establish with the student organization president the manner and frequency in which the advisor will participate in the organization’s activities, e.g., programs, social events, and meetings.

7. Be knowledgeable about and adhere to University polices and procedures which pertain to student organization and inform the student organization president of his/her responsibility to do the same.

8. Be knowledgeable of policies and procedures listed and review this code with the student organization president.

9. Offer guidance to the organization on goal setting, organization management, program planning, problem solving and group evaluation.

10. Know the organization’s process for obtaining new members.
